Bruce Chenoweth

 

Bruce trained as a Psychiatrist in the UK and QLD. After some years of Psychoanalytic training, he moved to experiential and existential therapies with mainly Gestalt Therapy underpinnings. Most of his teachers were from the Esalen centre, The MRI, and The Gestalt Institute in La Jolla, Many of these teachers were incorporating Zen traditions into a therapeutic framework. He was a Gestalt and Family Therapy trainer in QLD and NSW incorporating Psychodrama, Psychosynthesis, neo-Reichian Body therapies, and other modalities.

He worked in The Hunter Region Adolescent Mental Health Services as a Family Therapist. Subsequently, he has been focussed on Developmental Psychiatry specialising in the mental health of those with autism and intellectual disability. His personal journey has been via Gurdjieff, Raja Yoga, Sufism, Vipassana (Goenkaji) and Thai Forest traditions.
